Designing a bedroom for children is very different from designing adult’s bedroom/ master bedroom. There are several things that need to be considered for bedroom for children, such as the distribution of the space area, furniture selection, and selection of theme’s room based on gender and age of the child.
Bedroom for children should be divided into three areas. Those area are the bed area, playground area, and study area. The arrangement of those area must be arranged well so that children can feel comfortable in his room. The first thing that needs to be arranged are position of the bed and studying area.The position of studying area must not be placed next to the bed. The studying area must be placed on the opposite position of the bed. The studying chair must be back to the bed. Viewed from psychology side, seeing a bed when studying can make children easily tired.
In the selection of furniture, the selection is based on the three divisions of area that has been mentioned above. For bed, you can choose single bed or double bed(depends on number of children). If you have limited space, you can choose using the the stratified bed. For playing area, put a carpet on the playground. Better not using the wool carpet because it can be a nest of vermin and dust. Then put the toy cabinet for storing toys. Do not join a toy cabinet with wardrobe because usually the kids often put toys carelessly. For studying area, the ideal furnitures are a desk complete with chairs, bookcases, writting tools storage, and bulletin boards. Choose safe furnitures for children, avoid putting pottery, ceramics, sharp items, etc.
For the selection of themes, you can choose many more themes. You can choose an imaginative room themes, or simply minimalist room themes.
Imaginative room design theme is a theme that can provide inspiration to the children of her favorite characters or figures. For the girls bedroom, girls love beautiful things, funny,pretty and attractive color. So, you could add floral pattern or doll patterns such as Barbie, pandas, etc as her bedroom wallpaper. The using pink and light purple for room will be able to make the room look so feminine.
For the imaginative boys bedrooms, you can combine interior room with his favorite action figure, his favorite sportsmen, or his favorite sports club. There is no specific provision in the determination of a suitable color for boys room. Its color selection depends on the boy himself.
For designing a minimalist child’s bedroom, it is more emphasized on the selection of bedroom goods. There are many choices of suitable goods for minimalist bedroom such as minimalist beds, minimalist cabinets, and minimalist desks. For color selection of minimalist bedroom, don’t choose too dark color. If you want to choose a dark color, preferably combined it with bright colors so that the room did not seem cramped.
